Course Dutch Intermediate plus B2 (Program II)
Learning goals
In the Course Dutch Intermediate plus (B2) classes we will rehearse difficult parts of grammar, like passives, usage of “er”, different tenses (including plusquamperfectum) and word order. Conversations and exercises focused on work and society.
You work towards increasing the language level.
The course is suitable for anyone who wants to continue to learn the Dutch language and to prepare for the State exams Program II.
Contents
Grammar:
We will rehearse difficult parts of grammar, like passives, usage of “er”, different tenses (including plusquamperfectum) and word order. Homework will be studying the grammar before class or/and doing an assignment like preparing a presentation or writing a text using the grammar rules. In class, we will focus on answering questions and doing speaking exercises in which you apply the grammar rules.
Speaking practice:
We will talk about all kinds of situations, more personal or societal. Examples are personal goals and dreams, art, societal dilemmas and expressions. Conversations and exercises are playful and fun, yet focused on using an extensive vocabulary. Expanding your vocabulary outside class is also very important for this level. Homework will consist of texts to read, preparing a presentation or practicing conversations outside of class. In class, you will be invited to improvise during the discourses..
During the classes you will also learn new vocabulary .
After successfully completing this course:
you have a vocabulary of almost 7 000 words or more and you are ready to take the State exams Program II : listening, reading ,speaking and writing.
Time & Costs investment
The course consists of two modules. Each module consists of 10 sessions in 5 weeks. You have two meetings of 90 minutes a week.
The total class time with a tutor is 15 hours in one module.
To ensure that you learn as much as possible from the meetings, we expect you to spend approximately twice as many hours doing homework than the number of teaching hours per week on self-study. You will of course receive learning materials and assignments for this, which will be discussed during the meetings.
- Full course of 10 weeks, twice a week 90 minutes in group of 4-6 participants: €530,-
- Partial course of 5 weeks, twice a week 90 minutes in group of 4-6 participants: €270,-
Method
We use as a teaching method the book 'Contact 3', Dutch for non-native speakers. This book has been specially developed for highly educated people who want to learn Dutch as a second language. We also offer an online learning environment, where your teacher will offer free extra learning materials and you can hand in homework.
Practical information
The language of instruction during the meetings is Dutch.
We count on everyone to have the materials with them for the first lesson and to have paid for the course so that we can get off to a good start right away.
