Learning goals
In the course Dutch language A 2 you work towards to the language level Intermediate B1
The course is suitable for anyone who wants to continue to learn the Dutch language and to prepare for
the Integration Exam (Inburgeringsexamens).
Contents
This level is significant for mastering the essentials of Dutch grammar. You will take grammar a step further. You will learn, among other things, about different tenses (present perfect, past tense), separable verbs, “niet/geen”, “om te + infinitief”, word order, conjugations, adjectives and “er is/ er zijn”’. You will get homework to study the theory and to practice the grammar rules. In class we will focus on answering questions, doing (speaking) exercises and applying the studied grammar rules.
You will increase your speaking practice in various daily situations, for example at the workplace, leisure time, weather, travelling, conversations about hobbies, living, your health and emotions, giving your opinion and asking for information. During the classes you will learn new vocabulary and useful sentences.
After successfully completing this course:
*you have sufficient knowledge of Dutch culture to participate independently in daily life;
*you have a vocabulary of almost 2000 words and you are ready for the next level course Intermediate Dutch B1;
*you are ready to take the Integration Exam: listening, reading ,speaking and writing.
Time & Costs investment
The course consists of three modules. Each module consists of 12 sessions in 6 weeks. You have weekly two meetings of 90 minutes a week . The total class time with a tutor is 18 hours in one module.
To ensure that you learn as much as possible from the meetings, we expect you to spend approximately twice as many hours doing homework than the number of teaching hours per week on self-study. You will of course receive learning materials and assignments for this, which will be discussed during the meetings.
- One module of 6 weeks, twice a week, 90 minutes in group of 4-6 participants: €215,- (€11,95/ hour)
Method
We use as a teaching method the book 'Nederlands in gang' (€48,95) Dutch for non-native speakers. This book has been specially developed for highly educated people who want to learn Dutch as a second language. We also offer an online learning environment, where your teacher will offer free extra learning materials and you can hand in homework.
Practical information
The language of instruction during the meetings is Dutch. But our tutors speak of course foreign languages.
We count on everyone to have the materials with them for the first lesson and have paid for the course so that we can get off to a good start right away.
